Once you’ve signed up for Trusted House Sitters or any other house-sitting website, you’ll receive access to a vast network of jobs.

It’s time to create an alluring house sitter profile to stand out from other pet sitters and build trust with the owner. Remember that most sites will perform a background check and verify your information to ensure you’re a real person.

Upload quality photos that clearly show your face. Include pictures and videos of you with animals as well.

Trusted Housesitters and House Sitters America will ask you questions about your previous experience. Pet owners want to know that they can trust you with their pets, so having lots of experience is a plus.

Make sure to provide descriptive answers. You can describe specific instances where you’ve taken great care of pets. Perhaps you’ve cared for sick or injured animals or have experience with various pets.

Additionally, you can mention other skills. Homeowners who are looking for a pet sitter may ask for additional tasks like plant watering or house cleaning. Feel free to express why you’re interested in the city or area where the house is located.

  1. Starting in July I would like to set out on a year-long adventure traveling the USA.
My idea is to live RV style in between sitting assignments that will hopefully be a month or longer.
I won’t have any sitting references but I have great Air BB, and personal references along with volunteer work related to pets
Are there hundreds of sitters applying for each job?
Does it take a long time to get first sit? I understand this varies greatly, About how long?
Does it help to have Pet CPR and First Aid Certification to get first sit?
Which certification website is most respected by this community ?
How do full time sitters work out having a permanent address while living on the road from sitting to sitting. It seems like a permanent address is always requested for Senses , IRS or social security.
I’m Excited to hear your thoughts and join the sitting community!
    Have a fabulous day!

    1. Hiya Erin!!
Thanks for writing in 🙂 That is exactly what we did it in Europe, we had a campervan and used it to travel between sits and explore 🙂

Perfect that is exactly what we recommend to use for references when you’re starting out as a house sitter, we also used Airbnb references. If possible try to do some house sitting for friends or family before you go to build up more references.

With the sites we use, you can see how many people apply for sits. We find that large cities have more competition for house sits, but if you stick to smaller places it will be much easier, also I suggest looking for sits around holidays, there is always a huge demand for sitters, and it will be much easier to land a sit. It does help to get pet CPR and First Aid but not essential just another great thing to have on your house sitting CV. We use family members for permanent addresses 🙂 I think what will help you land sits is references so work on building those. Where do you plan on heading?

      Brittnay 🙂
