How to Set Up Alerts on Trusted House Sitters (3 Simple Steps + Video)

Want to increase your chances of getting house sits? With this number one tip, you’ll be the first application homeowners see.

This makes it more likely that they’ll reach out to you for an interview!

How Do You Set Up Alerts On Trusted House Sitters? (With Video)

I think setting up alerts is one of the most important elements of landing the sits YOU want!

It ensures you know exactly when a sit comes up in your desired locations (its could be a villa in Bali or a lodge in the Swiss Alps).

So how does it work?

You set up an alerts for your desired location (you can even add dates, duration and animals if you like).

Then you get an email notification when a sit comes up! You can then be the first person to apply!

If you have an active membership at Trusted House Sitters, you can set up alerts.

The membership is less than 2-3 nights in an Airbnb and is worth well it! We have managed to house-sit full-time for 4 years with house-sitting (so never paying for rent!)

Now that is a good return on investment.

The video below will show you exactly how to set up alerts

Why Should You Set Up Alerts On Trusted House Sitters?

With alerts on Trusted House Sitters, you will know when new opportunities arise. This means that you can apply immediately.

Since you’ll be one of the first applications the homeowners see, they’ll be more likely to reach out to you.

If you apply a few hours after the house sit becomes available, you might be too late. If the pet owners saw dozens of applications, they probably already chose a house sitter.

Being alerted of new openings means that you don’t have to check every day. Instead of refreshing your phone every few minutes, wait until you get a notification.

Setting up search alerts is an easy way to grow your business more quickly.

How to Search on The Trusted House Sitters Platform

First, you will search for an opportunity that interests you. Do this by using the search bar and search filters.

This will allow you to see custom house sits that fit your criteria.

Maybe you prefer certain pet types. Or you don’t want to sit for pet owners.

Maybe you’re hoping for a house-sitting opportunity in New York City or Costa Rica.

Or you only have one available week. You can set up a search for these dates only.

How to Save The Search on The Trusted House Sitters Platform

Save your search and you will receive instant notifications when new opportunities arise.

If you have the app, you will receive push notifications. If you only use the website, you will receive email notifications.

Make sure your email settings will allow these notifications to come through.

It is quite easy to save the search on the website. Once you apply the search filters, an option will arise that says “Save this search” on the top right-hand side of the page above the map, see the image below.

If you’re using the mobile app, you will click “Save.” This can be found to the right of the search bar.

Now its Time to Apply!

Now just wait for the app notifications or email alerts. Whenever you see one, go to Trusted House Sitters and take action.

These custom notifications will come right to your phone. You’ll be able to quickly apply to them!

Double-check that the opportunity meets your search criteria. If it sounds good, submit your application.

Make sure your background checks are current. Update your sitter profile as needed.

Homeowners should be able to look at your sitter profile and know that you’re a good candidate. They will reach out to you if your sitter profile is excellent.

You can always edit a search. If you would rather have a different type of pet, just edit the search.

If you want to visit other popular destinations, no worries. Simply edit the search and choose to delete instead.

Download the mobile app for the best experience. This allows you to receive phone notifications and more quickly respond to alerts.
